9 Week Sonogram

This was at our first visit with the mid-wife. The baby is now 1 inch, and this is the sonogram where we could see not only the heart, but the babies arms and the start of little legs (or a tail.. whatever you want to call it!)

7 Week Sonogram

This is our first sonogram on April 9th- 7 weeks pregnant. That is a tiny little baby in the middle of the sack. We were able to see the heart beating for the first time- truly an amazing experiance!

Sanity

Every once in awhile, I just have the thought pass through my mind of.... "oh my gosh... I'm growing a human being in my stomache.... a HUMAN BEING!!" and then I feel very justified in having whatever irrational thoughts or feelings I am having at that moment.

Today was one of those days as I sat on the subway coming home from work and I was imagining the guys's head across from me as a juicy slice of pizza..... could barely contain myself!!

"That's a mover and a shaker!"

So those are the words that our mid-wife uttered as we looked at the 9 week sonogram this week. We were able to see the babies arms moving all around, and the mid-wife mentioned more then once that it wasn't her that was moving the sonogram machine, but the baby moving all around. B4 just maybe as active his/hers parents are!!

It's Legit!

We had our first doctor's visit yesterday, and we received the official "Yes, you are going to become parents!" We had our first sonogram, and were able to see the "baby"... or the large black circle of fluid and a small white blob in the middle of it! However, the most exciting part was actually seeing the heart beat. You can't hear it yet, but you can see it fluttering- very cool!

I'm starting to feel the pregnancy a bit more too- I have to keep myself on a fairly regular eating schedule, or risk getting nauseous. But other than that, thankfully, I'm still full of energy and feeling good!

We go back to the Doc. in 2 weeks to meet with the Mid-wife. She will have the role of councilor throughout the pregnancy, but our other visits and the actual birthing will all be done by one of the doctors. We will be delivering at NYU up on 1st Ave, which thankfully, was one of the hospitals the Laurie had recommended (she had recommended finding a doc that was connected to a hospital with a good emergency neo-natal dept, just in case)

As for B3, Burton is already showing signs of jealousy. He recently decided that he had a new calling in life- an artist. Ink was his method of choice, and after careful consideration, used both couches as his canvas. He may have ingested quite a bit as well, but we'll never know because all we found was the empty pen...

This however, did not satisfy his artistic cravings, so he moved onto decomposing.... a method he likes to call- let's shred the couches. His inspiration must have been limited because he was only able to create his master piece on one of the couch cushions (however, he did keep that piece of art work separate from his Ink creations- they were created on different cushions.. how considerate of him!)

So at the moment, Burton is learning to love laying on the hard wood floor for his day's and nights... not sure he's finding the same type of inspiration...
