"The Heat is on..."

I'm humming that tune as I whip the sweat off my forehead. I have a new found respect for all "hot bodies" in this world. This whole " you feel like a volcano" is a new experience for me and it's been quite interesting. I never knew that a person could start sweating from just sitting; that you could actually sweat through your pillow case at night; and that you must choose your shirt color carefully because it is not attractive to have sweat marks all over it.

I know that maybe a bit to much info for some people, but really, I do want to express my new found respect for people that deal with being hot all the time on a daily basis.

On the good side, Chris can no longer use the nickname "Ice Princess" for me b/c he swore I had no warm blood in me!

The Belgians

Grandma with our cousins visiting from Belgium- Lieven, Ingrid, Astrid, Eva and Jacob
Jacob was a very good cousin to Ms. Logan who insisted that she be pushed around the yard in her limo!

Lolo and I enjoying the pool on a hot day! She is quite the swimmer, and loves the water!

Mima and Aunt Claire teaching Lolo "if your happy and you know it".. complete with stamping feet and claping hands.... not sure who had more fun, the aunts of the baby!

sorting through the paperwork...

If anyone ever tells you that going out on Maternity Leave is a seamless process.... ignore them! I'm in the midst of sorting out what type of disability I qualify for (if any), and how long I can stay out on maternity leave. It's all a very crazy and confusing process.

If I had any sick days I could just use those, but since I enjoy my sanity throughout the school year, I take them, and therefore only have a few saved. So it looks like once those are used up, I go on a 28 day non-paid grace period and then disability picks up. Here's the funny part though, disability only pays for 6 weeks (or 30 days) if you have a reg. birth, or 8 weeks (40 days) if you have a c-section (but first you have to go through the 28 day non-paid "grace" period) So basically, I'll receive disability pay for a total of 2 days if I have a regular birth.... have to love a system that supports our American family unit!

The good part is that I can take up to 16 weeks (w/out pay of course) and still be guaranteed my job. That will take me until aprox. end of March, giving time to figure things out.

Just a thought- I wonder what Obamacare will look like.... a grace period of 70 days- so you actually have to pay the gov't to have a child??! ;)

6 month check-up

We just had our 24 week or 6 month check up, and things are going great! I'm getting much hungrier these days (my "feeding" schedule went from about every 3 hours, down to every 2 hours lately!) and I have even woken up in the middle of the night starving. Guess our Baby B is going through a growth spurt!

The doctors are making me a bit crazy with their "watching of my weight". I was never one to weigh myself, and to have them doing it each month and analyzing what i'm eating, is a bit crazy. 2 months ago, I was told I was underweight and should be putting on more weight. Well this month, I'm told I must be careful b/c gaining 6lbs in one month is a little to much... can they please make up their mind? I'm hungry people, can they just let the pregnant girl relax?!! ;)

Getting Practice!

Burton is learning how to share his shade with others... (it's a start, now we have to work on him sharing his toys!)
Uncle Chris is very patient and loving to our niece Logan!

He even teachs her the difference between airplanes and helicopters!

Meanwhile, I teach Logan the importance of wearing sunblock at the beach. I'm also working on the finer points of body surfing with her... it's a work in progress.

On our way to Fire Island to Celebrate Missy's 30th.
