We welcomed Seamus O'Haire Donlan to the world on Saturday, May 26th 10:42am. He was 7lbs 5ozs, 21 inches with lots of dark brown hair.
Labor started Saturday morning around 4am. I thought I just had a very full bladder for about an hour, until around 5am, I started to look at the clock and noticed that this "full bladder pain" was coming about every 15 mins. Although all I wanted to do was to go back to bed, I woke Chris up. His response, "you are walking and talking way to well, you are not in labor." He began to roll over and go back to sleep.
I stopped him and asked him to just humor me and get up, and we began to prepare by watching the clock and packing up our bag. Around 6 am we decided it was the real thing, and called my Mom so she could come in and be with J. I also texted a few friends who lived close by in hopes that one was a awake and could come sit with Jocelyn while my Mom made her way in. Luckily, Nicole was awake and came right over.
By the time we made it to the hospital, the contractions were about 7-9mins apart and I was 4 cms and 90%. Although disappointed that I wasn't further along, I was happy to hear that the Doctor said I would definitely be staying and would get us a birthing room.
An hour and a half later, we got into the room and they broke my water. From there, things really took off. The contractions sped up significantly and became increasingly stronger. They gave me an epidural but within a minute of them putting it in, I needed to push. Unfortunately, it hadn't even kicked in yet, but nature was calling! 40 mins from the time my water was broken, Seamus was born!
