All the stars are aligned...

The world maybe ending.... this is the second day in a row that our daughter, Jocelyn Lillian, is actually taking a nap that lasts longer then 25 minutes. I don't even know what to do with myself! Burton and I are just staring at each other in awe.... the child sleeps!

This is how it all began... the fabulous sling! She began to take more cat naps while being "slung" around all day. Mommy's back was breaking, but she has a sleeping baby! This still works well, but Joss has been able to transition into sleeping in her co-sleeper both at night and during the day. Next step... the crib!

Baby Mama Group

Check out these cuties! Joss is 2nd from the left.
This week we made it to our second baby mama group, and it has made all the difference! It has become a lot easier for J and I to get out of the house (or at least easier for me to ignore her cries when I put her in the stroller), and just meeting with these other ladies has been so therapeutic. Most of our talk revolves around the babies, but it is wonderful to get out and just have adult conversation!

MOMA Mama

It's never to early to introduce culture to our little one! I headed up to the MOMA with a friend who lives close by and has a 14 week old. We maneuvered the subways with our strollers, figuring out which stops have elevators, etc and headed over there!
J did great- well she screamed all through the Tim Burton exhibit and then protested loudly at being placed in the stroller where she couldn't see what was going on around her... imagine the gual of her mother to take her to a museum and then not let her see the artwork! All in all, a great day!
Ms. J found this Picasso particulary interesting and had quite a lot to say about it! ;)
The enterance to the Tim Burton exhibit... talk about nightmares!

2 months

Amazing that 8 weeks ago today, our little one came into this world!

Some incredible things that have happened over the past few weeks:
- Jocelyn smiled at me for the first time. We were "playing" at our Nursing class (aka- sticking our tongues out at each other) and she gave me a big one. One of the best feelings I've ever had.

- She is beginning to sleep a bit longer during the day- Mommy and Daddy are very happy about this! We've been "forcing" her to take naps when she is tired, and we've had a much happier little girl

- J is beginning to notice the world around her, and has really shown us how exciting some things can be, such as;
- ceiling fans
- striped curtains (esp. the ones in Mima's kitchen)
- blinking Christmas lights that really should have been taken down weeks ago, but can now be left up "because our baby likes looking at them"

- She gave me a hug...... OK, so her arm somehow got thrown across my chest in a hug like fashion, but it made me feel good!

Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed.... but for once it's not Chris and me!
Ms. J had a bit of a fever so we called the doc. who gave us some interesting news- her weirdo fussiness (and I say weirdo because we are use to J being very demanding but she was having these extreme bouts of fussiness for no reason) are actually very normal for this 6-8 week period. It's during this time that her sight and hearing clear up. As J begins to notice all that's going on around her, she becomes completely overwhelmed. Around the 8Th month she'll be able to deal with it all and actually start to enjoy it, but for now all she is saying is "put me back in my bubble...this life stuff is too much!"
Love the Buddha belly!

All snugly after her bath!

The reason for her Buddha belly.... that is a death grip on her bottle... don t even think about taking that from her!
